Wow, that contest entry can be hard work, how about a drink?

Liz and Holley's Favorite Julep:

ingredients:
1 cup water
1 cup sugar
6-8 sprigs of fresh mint
Some good Bourbon like Maker's Mark (no, I get nothing to recommend it, I just think it's good plus it comes in a cool bottle).  You will need 2-3 oz for each drink.

1. Make some mint simple syrup by bringing your sugar and water to a boil.  Boil for about 5 minutes until clear and all sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat.  Pour into a jar and and add mint sprigs.  Refrigerate overnight so mint flavor will permeate...yummy.  If you don't use all the syrup for mint juleps, it makes great sweet tea!

2. To make the juleps, crush come ice, add about 2-3 ounces of bourbon and 1-2 tablespoons of your mint simple syrup.  If this is a little strong, add a little water to taste.  Garnish with some mint and sit back and enjoy the Derby!

Cheers and Good Luck!  May the odds be EVER in your favor!
