Monogram Monday...so much customer cuteness

Our Caroline 3 letter applique really dresses up a white beach towel.  This one was the perfect birthday gift for a special 13 year old!

On a more serious note, we had some great custom stuff going for an anniversary surprise and some school spirit items....I really liked how both of these turned out.  The feather was actually digitized from some original art.

And to wrap it up...somebody is going to be a big sister!  Isn't this a cute way to announce a new arrival?  Pinterest project come to life! (which reminds me, don't forget to follow us on pinterest.  We pin some cool stuff!)

It's a Boy!

Yes, the world is buzzing with the birth of a new royal.  Although we do not yet know his name; we do know that he will probably be one of the best dressed young men in the world.  I wonder if Kate likes monograms?  We think his Royal Highness definitely needs some of the basics, like handsome monogrammed loafers...

and some seersucker shorts for Daddy's summer polo matches....

He'll need a commemorative frame with a sweet little picture in it...

and a sweet little elephant to snuggle with.....

This Week We're Loving....

Huge Monograms on walls, doors, gates and more!  And not vinyl, we've done the adhesive vinyl.  And while we love the clean look it gives, There is just something about the depth and texture a wooden monogram can add to a room....

 

And there are so many options!  You don't even have to go with just a monogram....

The Scallop(Shell)  pattern is turning up everywhere, and we sure do LOVE it!!  We're seeing it in clothing; like this skirt and short from Lilly Pulitzer....

This Week We're Loving....

What we're loving? Those adorable Boutique Boot Socks!  What we're not loving....the price.  So, we thought we'd make some of our own.  What else we're loving? They make the perfect, inexpensive stocking stuffer!


Here's what you'll need:

1 pair of knee socks, or over the knee socks depending on how high your boots are

some lace, some buttons, a needle and thread

First, measure the widest part of your calf.  You'll want to put enough lace in the sock to fit over your calf.  Then, cut off a piece of lace 1/2 in longer than your calf measured.

     We found something a similar width and shimmied the sock over it to get the sock to the width we wanted it.  The lace will not stretch like the sock, so you have to stitch the lace around the sock while it is large, otherwise it will come apart when you put the sock on.

Then, we just stitched the lace around the cuff of the sock.

You can embellish with buttons, or a monogram!

Fall is quickly approaching and Friday is the official last day of Summer.   This dress is such an adorable way to usher in the month of October. We're in love with this pumpkin applique' a customer had done for her little pumpkin!

Customer Cuteness

Not exactly "Customer", but still cute!  This was my daughter's creation.  She picked the font, colors, and placement.

She needed a new sleeping bag for the seemingly infinite number of sleepovers she's been going to lately.

I don't know if you've shopped for tween sleeping bags lately, but yikes!  I could buy a new mattress for the price I'd pay for one of those things!  But, she needed a new one, and Strawberry Shortcake just wasn't going to cut it anymore.

So, here was my inexpensive solution:

Target, $16.99 + a cute monogram!  Next I'm going to hunt for a bright yellow pillowcase.  What do you think?

Customer Cuteness

Here in our town that boasts 2 major universities and a few smaller colleges, the students are beginning to return and we always enjoy seeing the cute ideas they have for personalizing their dorm spaces.  This customer brought in some stacking storage cubicles just begging for a monogram!

Personalized drop cloth pillow tutorial

I love pillows.  Love to change em around, personalize em, make em.  They just add a little something special to your decor, you know?


So, I wanted/needed some new pillows for various places in my house.  As usual, budget was low.  I have plenty of old pillows to use for stuffing, so I just needed the covers.  I also wanted them to work with my new design vision: cottage chic, funky junk, whatever you want to call it.  I didn't want new shiny pillows from the store.  I had some dropcloths that I had bought to make curtains out of, so I started there. 


First, make your pillow cover with any tutorial you wish.  We have an easy one here.


Then, buy or make a stencil.  I used my vinyl cutter to make a seahorse, then pulled the seahorse out and used the outline for my stencil.  I especially like this because I was able to adhere my stencil to the pillow.

Then, I took out a sharpie and colored it in.  Here is what I came up with.  

So easy, my 11 year old can do it!
